How to Speak Hockey
Hockey - English Translation Dictionary

Brian Kennedy
brian_kennedy Photo Born in Montreal, Brian Kennedy spent much of his hockey-playing youth in Ontario. He went to school in the U.S. in 1981 and ended up in Los Angeles. He's been a hockey fan since the age of five and played hockey as a child, retiring three different times. Brian holds a PhD in English and teaches at Pasadena City College. He is also a freelance sports writer, using his writing to get him everywhere from NHL locker rooms to the race shops of famous drivers of the past and present. He covers the Anaheim Ducks and the L.A. Kings, and in his spare time he rides a racing bike, practices karate and preserves memories. He still has many artifacts from his youth, including the curved, yellow hockey stick featured in chapters in this book. The story of how hockey came with him to L.A. is one of the important subthemes of Growing Up Hockey. Brian has a website just for this book--www.growinguphockey.com--and he would be pleased to hear your hockey stories!
