Franklin C. Haas is one of Pennsylvania's leading ornithologists. He is the founder and former chief editor of Pennsylvania Birds, the quarterly journal of the Pennsylvania Society for Ornithology. Haas grew up as a boy near Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in east-central Pennsylvania, on the migratory path of hawks, eagles and falcons. His fascination with the high-flying birds of prey grew into a life-long study of all birds across North America.
Roger Burrows has traveled North America extensively. While completing his B.Sc., he worked as a naturalist, interpretive planner and avifaunal consultant and has since worked as a bird identification workshop provider, avifaunal surveyor and naturalist on cruise ships. He has also been a writer/photographer for, and then owner of, a rural lifestyle magazine.
