Freelance writer and Master Gardener JENNIFER E. BEAVER discovered a passion for plants after witnessing their transformative power in neighborhoods. She helped found a group that successfully saves urban landscape trees, thereby reducing pollution and preserving property values. Captivated by the delights of container gardening, she is always on the prowl for new plant combinations to fill re-purposed containers. Since moving to California, she continues to try and recreate the flavor of her father’s Jersey tomatoes.

DON WILLIAMSON, who has turned a passion for gardening into his life's work, has a varied background in landscaping, golf course construction and management and now garden writing. He also has extensive experience in the design and construction of both annual and perennial beds in formal landscape settings. Don has a degree in applied horticultural technology and professional certificates in turf management.
